About the Awards

Silver Lake Award

The Silver Lake Award is a lifetime achievement award that recognizes someone whose life has been visibly shaped by the core value of Silver Lake Camp & Retreat Center.

Silver Lake's core values include:

  1. lifelong friendships
  2. faith formation
  3. justice work (racial and environmental in particular)
  4. developing leaders
  5. extravagant welcome
  6. inclusion

We are looking for someone who lives their life and faith in a way that reflect the formative experiences they have had at Silver Lake. This person truly takes Silver Lake home with them beyond Low Road.

Rev. Davida Foy Crabtree, 2018 Silver Lake Award honoree.

In addition to being shaped by Silver Lake, the recipient has given back time, treasure, and talent to Silver Lake, and has made a significant and sustainable contribution to the ministry of Silver Lake.

Candidates may not have served on any Silver Lake Committee (Board, Award team, or other iterations) or as an employee in the previous 5 years.

If you nominated someone in a previous year, you are welcomed and encouraged to nominate them again this year.

Silver Lake Volunteer of the Year Award

Rev. Susie Craig (right) and Brad Craig (left), 2019 Silver Lake Award honorees.

The Silver Lake Volunteer of the Year Award is presented to an individual or couple to recognize a Silver Lake MVP who, over the previous 18 months (which includes 2 summer seasons, and 3 retreat seasons), has demonstrated extraordinary action-oriented commitment to Silver Lake Camp and Retreat Center and its missions and people.

Considerations should be given to volunteer deans, counselors, chaplains, and Action participants, as well as those folks who have given of their time through the year to things like Silver Lake Sunday presentations, site support (mailings, maintenance, etc).

While candidates may have been employed by Silver Lake during the 18 month period, this award focuses on their volunteerism outside of their employment.

Candidates may not have served on any Silver Lake Committee (Board, Award, or other iterations) in the previous 5 years.

Candidates may not have received this award in the previous 7 years.
