Silver Lake Summer Season Underway

July 12, 2018
The Silver Lake Conference Center Summer Camp Season is fully underway. So far, more than 15 separate Conferences, consisting of over 300 campers and volunteers, have enjoyed the cool lake, the new ropes course, and the life changing experience of building community at Silver Lake.

One group of campers this year was a group of adults who attended Clergy Camp - a session for clergy to experience camp the same way kids do. Rev. Mary Nelson, South Central Regional Minister and co-leader of Clergy Camp, shared that these clergy swam in the lake, ate popsicles from the store, sang loud songs after meals, and even challenged themselves at the new ropes course. The event was well attended, even attracting clergy from Massachusetts who are exploring what Outdoor Ministries might look like as Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island move to become one conference.

Other groups shared their talents in singing, explored faiths from around the world, learned to sail, or spent the week focusing on being environmentally conscious, all while enjoying camp fires, night hikes, games on the ball fields, arts and crafts, and lots of time with friends old and new.

Sound fun? There is still room in most conferences for the remaining weeks of the summer. To search for available conferences, visit the Silver Lake website.
