SHARON – Silver Lake Conference Center has announced a campaign to raise money for a new High Ropes Course at the camp. The new course is currently under construction, and will be ready for the 2018 summer season, replacing the current high ropes course.

The campaign, called Share The Adventure, seeks to raise $120,000 for the new course. Silver Lake has been actively speaking with donors to secure financial support and is now calling on the Silver Lake community, churches, and other supporters to make any contribution they can toward the new challenge course.

The new course, designed by the challenge course design firm High Five, will consists of several new elements, including a multi-element portion which will allow 15-20 participants to be actively engaged in the course at the same time. This new aspect of the challenge course is more in line with Silver Lake's mission of creating a supportive community.

"The gifts and advantages of having a challenge course is it allows for folks to stretch their personal boundaries, try something they didn't think they could do," says Rev. Ryan Gackenheimer, Executive Director of Silver Lake. "Our new course will be community driven, so it will have several elements that can't be completed without working with your teammate."

The course will also have several independent climbing elements similar to the ones Silver Lake campers and guests have used in the past. The new course location is near the Hubble Chapel, close to the existing low ropes course. It can be accessed by a trail from the waterfront road and via a new access road.

To ensure that the course will be ready for summer 2018, the Connecticut Conference has advanced Silver Lake the funds to complete the building phase. Widespread support is needed to ensure that funds are not diverted from other needs to cover this necessary improvement. Further information about the course and the need for these improvements can be found here.

The Share the Adventure Campaign offers donors several ways to contribute. Those with mobile phones can text a donation amount, entering $ first, to 860-546-3475. Those who wish to send a check can mail a check to Silver Lake Conference Center, 223 Low Road, Sharon, CT 06069. If you prefer to donate online, simply click the Donate Now button below.
