We are sad to say that we are postponing the Pride Retreat, originally scheduled for Nov. 5-7 at Silver Lake.
The intention of this event is to give LGBTQ+ youth and allies an opportunity to feel a part of a wider community, and we are not able to offer that experience this year due to low enrollment.
“We are, of course, deeply disappointed but recognize that the ongoing impacts of the pandemic mean that this November is just not the right time yet,” wrote Pride Retreat Deans Skyler Keiter-Massefski, David Pletta, and Seth Hodge.
Silver Lake is committed to offering events that support and affirm LGBTQ+ youth, families, and allies. We will work to identify a future date for a high school retreat as well as to create other ways for our families to engage with each other around issues of identity and faith.
Please keep an eye out for information about a new event, either this spring or next fall, as well as other new programs.
