Help Furnish SLCC's Newly Renovated Lodge

July 19, 2016

Silver Lake is seeking donations to help furnish the newly renovated Lodge. Through a new Razoo online campaign, the Conference Outdoor Ministry site is looking to raise $20,000 to help outfit the Lodge with furniture, beds, lamps, and tables.

The Lodge, one of the oldest and most beloved buildings on site, has been under reconstruction since the fall of 2015. Using Passive House building techniques, a design method that emphasizes energy efficiency, the finished building will save 90% in heating and cooling costs and 65% over all energy use.

"It's a chance to live out our values," said Site Manager Greg Arifian about the project, referring to Silver Lake's commitment to environmental sustainability. "We're creating a structure that has a very low environmental impact."

An increase in size and a new floor plan will allow for more bedrooms and a more comfortable feel to the interior for groups up to 18 individuals. Updated bathrooms and a new kitchen will make the Lodge one of the most desirable lodgings at the conference center.

Donations to the Lodge Furnishing Fundraiser will help purchase new beds, mattresses, couches, chairs, tables, and lamps. Samples of some of these planned furnishings can be viewed on the fundraiser website.

"Silver Lake is continuing to offer an extravagant welcome while caring for creation," says Silver Lake's Executive Director the Rev. Ryan Gackenheimer. "Now is your chance to show your love for Silver Lake, by investing in the furnishings for this incredible new space."

Gackenheimer expects the Lodge to be finished later this summer. A dedication ceremony will be held on Sept. 18 at Silver Lake.
