Silver Lake Update - November 2020

November 20, 2020

Silver Lake Conference Center Email Update to the staff and Board of the Southern New England Conference, UCC

The SLCC year-round staff has made a goal to be more intentional about communicating our programs and activities with the wider SNE staff and Board. To do this, we aim to send a monthly email to the entire staff and Board with highlights of what we’ve been working on and upcoming events.

Celebrate the Christmas Season with Silver Lake!

We have 2 in-person Christmas at the Lake family days, December 5th and December 12th.

Spend time outdoors with other families as we enter the season of Advent and prepare for Christmas.

Masks and physical distancing required.

We are putting together the 12 Days of Christmas At Home Box, similar to our summer Silver Lake At Home Box, which will offer 12 days of activities, including crafts, baking, opportunities to get outside, and a chance to  explore God, yourself, your neighbor, and creation at home with your family!

Visit www.silverlakect.org/christmas for all the details!

Family Retreats at Silver Lake

A time to retreat from the everyday stress of life where you can reflect and be grateful as a family.
Reserve a building - for your family, roommates, household, or yourself - to get away from the routine of your daily life. Unplug from the busy world around you and surround yourself in the beauty of God's creation.

A chance to slow down, craft together, play games together, explore how the Spirit is moving in your life, share some scripture, pray together, and listen anew for God calling in your midst.
Relax. Reconnect with loved ones. Retreat to Silver Lake.

The Lake in the Time of COVID

Written by Nancy True
Silver Lake Board of Directors

"For me, Silver Lake is about putting yourself out there and being caught by God’s love. It’s about taking a risk, trying new things, making new friends, and being the person you always thought you could be. It’s about learning to put other people first, taking a deep breath, re-centering, and trying to be a good follower or leader (whichever doesn’t come naturally to you)." Read the full blog post.

Virtual Retirement Celebration for Stephanie

Join us as we celebrate Stephanie Pitman!
After 16 years as Business Manager and decades of service, Stephanie Pitman is retiring from Silver Lake.

The Southern New England Conference and Silver Lake will honor Stephanie with a gathering on Zoom, Saturday, December 12 at 7pm.
Bring a snack and wear a fancy hat as we honor Stephanie's ministry to generations of Silver Lakers.

Making summer camp at Silver Lake affordable for all has been an important mission for Stephanie. Attendees will have the opportunity to donate to the Silver Lake Scholarship Fund, in Stephanie’s honor.

Additional details and registration information will be coming soon!

Giving Tuesday is December 1, 2020

On Tuesday, December 1, join with others across the world to "unleash generosity" by supporting the Silver Lake Scholarship Fund.

We have a goal to receive contributions from at least 75 donors. Will you be one?
