Silver Lake Named One of the Best Camps in America

Silver Lake Camp & Retreat Center has been named one of America's Best Summer Camps in 2024 by Newsweek Magazine. 

The Southern New England Conference camp, located in Sharon, CT, was named one of the top 500 camps out of the 3500 camps studied by Plant-A Insights Group. The research study included the votes and opinions of more than 30,000 interviewed parents, and the monitoring of 699,000 social media reviews.

"Camps were rated on criteria like selection of offered activities, accessibility, staff-to-children ratio and camp safety," said Nancy Cooper, Newsweek Global Editor in Chief. "In today's fast-paced world, an opportunity to experience life away from omnipresent screens and endlessly updating timelines makes the experience of summer camp even more valuable."

Silver Lake Camp & Retreat Center offers 1-week summer sessions for campers entering grades 4-12, plus half-week family camp programs for all ages. The site also hosts group retreats year-around. 

"While we've known that Silver Lake Camp and Retreat Center is one of the best camps in America for decades, it is incredible to see this reflected in a national list celebrating our camp!" said Rev. A camp open house is being held Sunday, May 19, from 1 to 5 PM.
